Biography
Jaroslaw Szumega graduated with Master’s degree in both Computer Science (2016) and Advanced Applied Electronics (2018) from Wroclaw University of Technology. He focused on systems for signal monitoring, automatic reconfiguration methods and Machine Learning models.
In 2016, he was a Technical Student at CERN, responsible for communication protocol verification for the SoC-based CROME project (Cern RadiatiOn Monitoring Electronics). That cooperation resulted in a thesis focused on current compensation methods in femtoamperes-range with machine learning models.
Before joining RADNEXT, he worked as a developer and engineer on software development, integration and delivery.
In October 2022, he started his doctorate at Mines Paris - Université PSL (École des Mines de Paris, Université Paris Sciences et Lettres) in cooperation with CERN Proton Irradiation Facility (IRRAD). His work focuses on novel machine learning methods applications for automatic assessment of High-Energy Physics irradiation experiments. The PhD thesis is placed within the context of the RADNEXT project to support the TA experimental proposals evaluation.
Role in RADNEXT
My PhD work belongs to the framework of RADNEXT WP3 “Transnational access management and harmonization”. I provide support for the maintenance and development of the RADNEXT TA Portal.
My scientific contribution to the RADNEXT project focuses on the exploration of novel Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing techniques to develop automatic evaluation of experimental proposals.
